Widely regarded as one of the best 10 postapacalyptic movies ever.
Deeply disturbing and depressive ...
The world after the nuclear apocalypse. Pale light lits the scenery of
total destruction. The surviving humans vegetate in wet cellars under
the nuclear winter. But somehow human spirit still sees somewhere the
dim light of a new and better future. The next generation starts the
walk towards a new life...
"This is quite an obscure picture, even by Russian standards... It is dark (literally), morbid, disturbing at times... It requires quite an effort to watch. But it is one of those quite numerous Russian films that leave a deepest impression on the viewers by making them THINK. It is one of those brilliant "what if.." ponderings, never really giving you a final answer, or even if suggesting anything, leaving it open for the viewers to make their own conclusions. Perfectly cast (faces DO match the setting!), perfectly performed, and even the "special effects". imdb

Burst City is set in a barren, futuristic Tokyo
of highways and wastelands, where a rowdy group of punk bands and their fans
gather to protest the construction of a nuclear power plant. Riot police
and the factory owner's yakuza friends soon move in to break it up.
However, the arrival of a pair of mysterious, metal-clad bikers and a
revolt among the disgruntled construction crew makes for a situation
that spirals dangerously out of control...
